BRNO, Czech Republic (Interstat) — KP Brno opened its women’s professional basketball season with a 70-65 home victory over Sokol HK on Sunday. The hosts raced to a 26-15 lead after the first quarter, but Sokol HK answered with a 17-14 second period to cut the deficit to 40-32 at halftime. Sokol HK continued its comeback in the third quarter, outscoring KP Brno 21-14 to pull within 54-53 entering the final period. KP Brno then closed with a 16-12 fourth quarter to secure the win. Sokol HK fell to 0-1, while KP Brno improved to 1-0. KP Brno next hosts SBS Ostrava on Oct. 10, then welcomes Nyon on Oct. 15 and USK Prague on Oct. 17. Sokol HK next visits USK Prague on Oct. 10 and hosts USK Prague on Dec. 19. The game was part of the Czech women’s basketball schedule in the Czech Republic. Both teams will return to action later this month.
