Panathinaikos overwhelms Kavala in dominant women’s basketball road victory

KAVALA, Greece (Interstat) — Panathinaikos used a fast start and relentless defense to rout Kavala 108-62 on Sunday in a women’s professional basketball game. The visiting Panathinaikos controlled the opening quarter, extended its lead before halftime and never let Kavala recover. The visitors set the tone early and maintained a double-digit cushion after the first quarter, steadily pulling away. Panathinaikos moved the ball effectively, attacked the basket and turned defensive stops into easy transition baskets. Kavala struggled against the pressure, misfired from the perimeter and could not match Panathinaikos’s pace or depth. The win improved Panathinaikos to 2-1 this season, while Kavala fell to 0-2. Panathinaikos’s balanced attack wore down the home side throughout the second half, and the margin continued to grow as reserves finished the game. Kavala showed effort but was overwhelmed by Panathinaikos’s size and speed. Panathinaikos next hosts Alba Berlin on Oct. 14. Kavala is scheduled to host Giannina on Oct. 18.
