Crvena Zvezda at Novosadska

NOVI SAD (Interstat) — Crvena Zvezda will look to remain unbeaten Saturday when it visits Novosadska in a women’s professional basketball game. Crvena Zvezda is 2-0 this season, while Novosadska is 1-0. Both teams enter with early momentum, but the matchup offers Novosadska a chance to measure itself against one of the early pace-setters.

Crvena Zvezda has been powered by a balanced attack and strong recent play from Artemis Spanou, the player to watch. In her most recent outing, Spanou finished with 13 points, 12 rebounds and two assists in 32 minutes during a 71-66 win at Miskolc. Aliyah Collier added 18 points and four rebounds in 20 minutes, while Destanni Henderson scored 18 points and grabbed four rebounds in 28 minutes. The victory followed Crvena Zvezda’s season-opening 112-49 home win over Korac. Crvena Zvezda has scored at least 71 points in each of its first two games.

Novosadska opened its season with a 53-46 road win at Spartak. Andela Jekic, Marija Marceta and Dragana Jovicic were among the team’s most productive players in that result. Novosadska will need a disciplined defensive effort to slow Crvena Zvezda’s transition game and limit second-chance opportunities. The home team also will try to control tempo and force Crvena Zvezda into half-court possessions.

Crvena Zvezda’s depth has been evident. Collier and Henderson each reached 18 points in the most recent win, showing that opponents cannot focus solely on Spanou. Spanou’s rebounding and inside presence give Crvena Zvezda a reliable option on both ends. If Novosadska collapses on the interior, Crvena Zvezda has guards capable of punishing open looks.

For Novosadska, the key will be sustaining offensive rhythm against a team that has scored at a high clip. The home side is coming off a lower-scoring victory, but it found enough production from Jekic, Marceta and Jovicic to secure the road result. Playing at home could help Novosadska settle early and stay within striking distance. The home crowd could provide an additional lift in a matchup against an unbeaten opponent.

Crvena Zvezda will aim to keep its perfect start intact before a busy stretch of schedule. Novosadska will try to protect its home court and match its best start. After Saturday, Crvena Zvezda is scheduled to host Duga, then visit Spartak. Novosadska is set to visit Kraljevo before hosting Partizan. The game figures to hinge on rebounding, turnovers and whether Novosadska can contain Spanou without leaving other Crvena Zvezda scorers free.

Interstat’s game simulator is projecting a final score of Crvena Zvezda 84, Novosadska 77.
