VALENCIA (Interstat) — Valencia used balanced scoring and a decisive fourth quarter to beat visiting Avenida 82-57 in a women’s professional basketball game Wednesday. Valencia improved to 1-1, while Avenida fell to 0-1. Valencia led 15-13 after the first quarter, 36-27 at halftime and 59-39 through three quarters before closing with 23 points in the fourth. Avenida scored 13 in the first, 14 in the second, 12 in the third and 18 in the fourth. Virag Kiss led Valencia with 12 points, nine rebounds and two assists in 21 minutes. Kamila Borkowska added six points, nine rebounds and two blocks in 18 minutes. Alexis Peterson scored 10 points with four assists, Helena Pueyo had 11 points and four rebounds, and Marta Suarez Rodriguez contributed 13 points and three rebounds. Alisia Jenkins added nine points and six rebounds, while Leticia Romero had seven points and five assists. Stephanie Mawuli paced Avenida with 20 points and four rebounds in 29 minutes. Rebeka Mikulasikova scored 11 points with three rebounds and two blocks, and Claudia Soriano had four points, five rebounds and six assists.
