Klosterneuburg at Linz
LINZ (Interstat) — Klosterneuburg will look to build on its strong start when it visits Linz on Sunday in a women’s professional basketball game between teams with matching 2-1 records.
Klosterneuburg enters after an 80-49 win at Vienna United in its most recent game. Martha Pietsch led a balanced effort with 28 minutes, 16 points, six rebounds and three assists. Stella Popp also scored 16 points in 26 minutes, adding four rebounds and two assists, while Oryna Bolotnikova finished with 14 points, four rebounds and four assists in 25 minutes.
Pietsch has been Klosterneuburg’s most reliable offensive option. In her previous outing against Vienna T-Wolves, she played 40 minutes and produced 26 points, seven rebounds and three assists. Her ability to score from multiple levels and create for teammates will be central to Klosterneuburg’s attack against Linz. Klosterneuburg’s only loss this season came against DBB LZ OO, a 78-73 home defeat. The visitors have since responded with consecutive wins, including a 56-51 road victory at Vienna T-Wolves before the decisive win at Vienna United.
Linz also sits at 2-1 but comes in after a 63-54 home loss to Vienna Flames in its most recent game. Ivona Pilic remains the player to watch for Linz. She has shown the ability to dominate inside and on the glass, most recently posting 33 points, 14 rebounds, two assists and two blocks in 37 minutes against Vienna United. Earlier in the season, she had eight points, seven rebounds and one block in 33 minutes at UBSC-DBBC Graz.
Pilic’s production gives Linz a strong interior presence, but the team will need more balance against a Klosterneuburg side that has scored efficiently during its winning streak. Linz opened the season with a 78-67 road win at UBSC-DBBC Graz and followed with an 82-74 home victory over Vienna United.
The matchup could hinge on pace and rebounding. Klosterneuburg has multiple playmakers, with Pietsch, Popp and Bolotnikova all capable of generating offense. Linz will likely try to slow the game and feed Pilic in the post, hoping to draw fouls and control the boards. Klosterneuburg’s defense will need to limit second-chance opportunities and prevent Pilic from getting comfortable near the basket.
Both teams are early in the season, but the game offers an important chance to keep pace near the top of the standings. Klosterneuburg will aim for a third straight win, while Linz will try to avoid a second consecutive home defeat.
Interstat’s game simulator projects a final score of Klosterneuburg 80, Linz 68, and its ELO system gives Klosterneuburg a 94.2 percent probability to win.
