HAIFA, Israel (Interstat) — Maccabi Bnot overcame a halftime deficit and defeated host Maccabi Haifa 76-69 in a women’s professional basketball game Monday. Maccabi Haifa led 36-32 at halftime, but Maccabi Bnot surged ahead with a 23-12 third quarter. Both teams scored 21 points in the fourth, and the visitors held on down the stretch. Maccabi Bnot improved to 2-1. Maccabi Haifa fell to 1-2. Maccabi Bnot scored 18 points in the first quarter and 14 in the second before its decisive third. Maccabi Haifa opened with 16 in the first and 20 in the second, then managed 12 in the third. The win gave Maccabi Bnot its second victory of the season and handed Maccabi Haifa its second loss. Maccabi Bnot previously beat Hapoel Petah Tikva and lost to Hapoel Rishon. Maccabi Haifa previously beat Maccabi Karmiel and lost at Holon. Maccabi Bnot next hosts Maccabi Karmiel, while Maccabi Haifa hosts Elitzur Holon.
