HOLON, Israel (Interstat) — Holon defeated visiting Maccabi Haifa 89-59 on Sunday in a women’s professional basketball game. Holon led 23-20 after the first quarter and stretched its advantage to 49-32 by halftime. The hosts then pushed the margin to 70-44 through three quarters before closing out the victory. Holon never trailed after the first quarter. Holon’s balanced attack and strong defense limited Maccabi Haifa throughout the second half. Maccabi Haifa scored 20 points in the first quarter, 12 in the second, 12 in the third and 15 in the fourth. Holon scored 23 in the first, 26 in the second, 21 in the third and 19 in the fourth. With the win, Holon improved to 4-2 this season, while Maccabi Haifa dropped to 1-1. The visitors never recovered after being held to 12 points in each of the second and third quarters.
