Zadar at Tresnjevka

ZAGREB (Interstat) — Tresnjevka will host Zadar on Saturday in a women’s professional basketball game, with both teams aiming to establish early-season form. Zadar enters with a 1-0 record, while Tresnjevka is 0-1 and still seeking its first victory of the young campaign.

Tresnjevka opened its season with a loss at Brod na Savi. Lea Marsic, the player to watch for the home team, was among the most productive performers in that game, recording 18 points, five rebounds and one assist in 27 minutes. Kristina Maricevic added nine points, 10 rebounds and three assists, and Tetiana Tkachenko contributed 10 points, seven rebounds and two assists. Tresnjevka will need that group to set a steady pace and compete on the boards against Zadar.

Zadar is unbeaten early and will look to carry that momentum into the road matchup. In its most recent game, Lola Stipic, Brynn Masikewich and Edita Skec were the team’s most productive players. Zadar’s balance and experience could test Tresnjevka’s defense, especially if Marsic is asked to handle a large share of the scoring load. The visiting team will aim to pressure the ball, limit second-chance opportunities and turn stops into transition chances.

For Tresnjevka, protecting the home court starts with reducing turnovers and finding secondary scoring behind Marsic. Maricevic’s rebounding and Tkachenko’s all-around play can help create extra possessions. If Tresnjevka can control the defensive glass, it can keep the game close and force Zadar into half-court possessions. Zadar, meanwhile, will try to use its depth and early confidence to quiet the home crowd.

Marsic’s recent outing showed she can score efficiently while also contributing on the boards. Tresnjevka will likely need her to remain aggressive without forcing attempts, particularly if Zadar sends extra attention her way. Maricevic’s work inside and Tkachenko’s ability to facilitate could ease that pressure. The home team’s guards must also protect the ball and avoid giving Zadar easy transition points.

Zadar will counter with a roster that has already produced a win. Stipic, Masikewich and Skec gave Zadar reliable production in its most recent game, and the team will look for similar contributions on the road. A fast start could help Zadar settle the pace, while a disciplined half-court approach could limit Tresnjevka’s chances to rally.

Tresnjevka’s upcoming schedule includes a trip to Medvescak, a home game against Split, visits to Pozega and Zadar, and home matchups with Ragusa, Sibenik, Rijeka and Brod na Savi. Zadar’s next stretch includes games against Sibenik, Zagreb, Rijeka, Brod na Savi, Medvescak, Split, Pozega, Ragusa and Tresnjevka. Both teams will have little time to settle before the schedule quickens.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a final score of Tresnjevka 76, Zadar 70.
