Trieste at Bolzano

BOLZANO, Italy (Interstat) — Bolzano (0-1) will look for its first victory of the season Saturday when it hosts Trieste (1-0) in a women’s professional basketball game. Trieste opened the campaign with a narrow home win, while Bolzano dropped its first game on the road. The matchup gives both teams an early chance to establish momentum.

Trieste beat Virtus Cagliari 63-62 in its most recent game. Lydie Katshitshi Kintala led the way with 21 points, 16 rebounds and one block in 30 minutes. Jade Edwards added 12 points, seven rebounds and three assists in 36 minutes, and Milagros Maza contributed seven points, seven rebounds and three assists in 32 minutes. The balanced effort helped Trieste overcome a one-point game and begin the season unbeaten.

Katshitshi Kintala will be a player to watch for Trieste. She was dominant on the glass and efficient enough to carry a heavy scoring load. Her ability to control the paint could be important against a Bolzano team still searching for its first win.

Bolzano lost 89-61 at Alpo in its most recent game. Milena Mioni was the top performer with 21 points and 10 rebounds in 26 minutes. Giulia Manzotti finished with nine points, eight rebounds, two assists and one block in 31 minutes, while Petra Oborilova added seven points, two rebounds and three assists in 25 minutes.

Mioni will be a player to watch for Bolzano. She matched Katshitshi Kintala’s 21-point output in her opener and also recorded a double-double. Bolzano will need her production inside and on the boards as it tries to keep pace with Trieste.

The game features two teams with contrasting early results. Trieste has already shown it can win a tight contest, while Bolzano is seeking improvement after a lopsided loss. Trieste’s supporting players, including Edwards and Maza, could help offset Bolzano’s home-court advantage. Bolzano will look for Manzotti and Oborilova to provide secondary scoring behind Mioni.

After Saturday, Trieste is scheduled to host Usmate in its next game. Bolzano is scheduled to visit Vicenza in its next game. Trieste’s upcoming slate also includes games against Torino Teen, Alpo, Vicenza, Milano Stars, Cagliari, Sanga Milano, Selargius and a later meeting with Bolzano. Bolzano’s schedule includes Vicenza, Virtus Cagliari, Usmate, Sanga Milano, Cagliari, Selargius, Torino Teen, Milano Stars, Alpo and a later trip to Trieste.

Neither team has a long season sample yet, so early form could shift quickly. Trieste will try to keep its offense balanced, while Bolzano will aim to tighten its defense after allowing 89 points in its opener.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a final score of Bolzano 70, Trieste 69.
