Quilmes at Independiente

AVELLANEDA (Interstat) — Independiente will host Quilmes on Thursday in a women’s professional basketball game between two teams that have opened their seasons with victories.

Independiente enters at 1-0 after a 68-63 home win over El Bigua in its most recent game. Quilmes also is 1-0 following a 69-52 home victory over Atletico Penarol in its last outing. The meeting gives both clubs a chance to remain unbeaten early in the campaign, and it offers an early look at how each team handles a step up in competition.

Independiente’s recent result showed a balanced offensive effort and enough late defense to hold off El Bigua. The home side scored 68 points and limited El Bigua to 63, a five-point margin that kept Independiente in front down the stretch. That performance followed the team’s season-opening win and has Independiente carrying momentum into the contest on Thursday. The club will look to build on that result before it continues its schedule with a home game against Union Bahia and later road games at Velez Sarsfield and Boca.

Quilmes arrives with a larger margin of victory from its most recent game. Quilmes scored 69 points and held Atletico Penarol to 52, a 17-point win that showcased both scoring depth and defensive control. The road test at Independiente will be different, as Quilmes will leave home for the first time this season and face an opponent that also is undefeated. Quilmes is set to visit El Bigua after the game on Thursday, then return home for games against Boca and Velez Sarsfield before traveling to Union Bahia.

The matchup features two teams off to 1-0 starts, but their paths have differed. Independiente won a closer game, while Quilmes posted a more decisive result. Both results came at home, making the game on Thursday an early measure of how each team handles a new setting. For Quilmes, the challenge is maintaining its defensive form on the road. For Independiente, the focus is building on a narrow home win and protecting its home court.

Independiente and Quilmes will each try to use the contest as a foundation for the weeks ahead. The early-season slate includes several games against teams that also will be competing for position in the standings. A win on Thursday would keep one club unbeaten and give it momentum before the schedule turns to upcoming matchups.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a final score of Independiente 69, Quilmes 68. Interstat’s ELO system gives Independiente a 63.2 percent probability to win.
