ARAD, Romania (Interstat) — CSUP Timisoara will seek its first victory of the season when it visits Arad in a women’s professional basketball game Friday. Arad enters with a 2-0 record, while CSUP Timisoara is 0-2. Arad will be the home team, and CSUP Timisoara will be the visiting team. Arad’s 2-0 start includes wins over Municipal and Agronomia Bucuresti, while CSUP Timisoara’s 0-2 start includes losses to Municipal and Sportul Bucuresti.

Arad has opened the season with two wins. In its most recent game, Arad won 84-75 at Municipal. Kimberly Villalobos led Arad with 26 points, 11 rebounds and one assist in 35 minutes. Jaidynn Mason added 20 points, five rebounds and four assists in 36 minutes, and Eva Rupnik finished with 13 points, four rebounds and one assist in 33 minutes. Earlier in the season, Arad won 71-30 at Agronomia Bucuresti. Villalobos scored 20 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in 32 minutes in that victory, while also recording two assists. Villalobos is a player to watch for Arad.

CSUP Timisoara has dropped its first two games. The team’s most recent result was a 93-49 loss to Sportul Bucuresti. Bianca Stoianovici paced CSUP Timisoara with 15 points, three rebounds, one assist and one block in 34 minutes. Ana Cucolas added 13 points, one rebound and two assists in 26 minutes, and Dariana Beatrice Pausan contributed 11 points and eight rebounds in 25 minutes. In an earlier game, CSUP Timisoara lost 127-13 at Municipal.

Stoianovici is a player to watch for CSUP Timisoara. She scored 15 points and recorded three rebounds, one assist and one block in the loss to Sportul Bucuresti. She also has been among the team’s most productive players during its early schedule. Arad has received consistent production from Villalobos, who has posted double-doubles in her recent appearances. She had 26 points and 11 rebounds against Municipal after producing 20 points and 15 rebounds against Agronomia Bucuresti. Mason and Rupnik have provided additional support in Arad’s unbeaten start.

The matchup is part of the women’s professional basketball schedule. CSUP Timisoara’s upcoming schedule includes home games against CSBT Alexandria, Sepsi SIC, Rapid, Agronomia and Municipal, along with road games at Oxigen Bucuresti, U-Cluj Napoca, CSBT Alexandria and Sportul Bucuresti.
