TARGOVISTE, Romania (Interstat) — Municipal Targoviste routed visiting CSUP Timisoara 127-13 on Saturday in a women’s professional basketball game. Municipal controlled every quarter, building a 27-2 first-quarter lead, a 58-4 halftime advantage and a 97-8 margin through three quarters. CSUP Timisoara finished 5-for-38 from the floor, 0-for-10 from three-point range and 3-for-6 from the free-throw line. Municipal shot 27-for-59 overall, 10-for-31 from beyond the arc and 8-for-11 at the line. Municipal also held a 13-3 edge in offensive rebounds and committed only seven turnovers to CSUP Timisoara’s 40. Bride Kennedy Hopoate led Municipal with 20 points, 18 rebounds and five assists. Ellen Jarvinen added 16 points, four rebounds, two assists and one block, while Sara Nitescu had 10 points, six rebounds and four assists. Lindsey Pulliam contributed nine points, four rebounds and five assists. Alina Chivu scored five points with four rebounds, five assists and two blocks. Carla Popescu added seven points, Ines Corda had four points and three assists, and Irina Margineanu scored three. Sara Kaycsa scored four and Ania Tota had three rebounds for CSUP Timisoara. Municipal improved to 1-0; CSUP Timisoara fell to 0-1.
