Kayseri at Fenerbahce
ISTANBUL (Interstat) — Fenerbahce will host Kayseri on Saturday in a women’s professional basketball game, matching an unbeaten home side against a Kayseri team seeking a second win of the young season.
Fenerbahce enters 2-0. Kayseri is 1-1. Fenerbahce has leaned on Emma Meesseman, its player to watch. Meesseman had 16 points, six rebounds and one assist in an 88-69 win at Nesibe. She also posted 15 points, six rebounds and six assists in an 87-78 win over Emlak Konut. In the Nesibe victory, Luisa Geiselsoder scored 18 points with three rebounds and three assists, while Marc Anderson Ivon added eight points, two rebounds and six assists.
Kayseri will counter with Morgan Jones, its player to watch. Jones had 29 points, 10 rebounds, two assists and one block in a 64-58 home win over Turgutlu. In Kayseri’s other result, a 65-56 loss at Besiktas, Jones finished with 17 points, two rebounds, three assists and two blocks. Against Turgutlu, P. Gulcelik added 12 points, two rebounds and two assists, and Harsimran Kaur had nine points, five rebounds and one assist.
Kayseri’s most recent outing produced the 64-58 victory over Turgutlu, with Jones controlling the game on the interior and at the free-throw line. Gulcelik provided secondary scoring, while Kaur contributed on the glass. Kayseri will need similar balance to keep pace with a Fenerbahce team that has scored at least 87 points in each of its first two games.
Fenerbahce’s most recent result was the 88-69 road win at Nesibe. Meesseman was efficient in limited minutes, Geiselsoder scored 18 points and Ivon directed the offense with six assists. Earlier, Fenerbahce beat Emlak Konut 87-78 behind Meesseman’s all-around line and a steady team effort. The home side will look to maintain its early rhythm and depth as it returns to its home court.
Kayseri opened the season with the loss at Besiktas before rebounding against Turgutlu. Jones has been the central figure in both games, averaging 23 points and six rebounds across the two contests. Her ability to score inside and draw contact will test Fenerbahce’s frontcourt. Kayseri also will need production from Gulcelik and Kaur to stretch the floor and relieve pressure on Jones.
Fenerbahce has opened with two wins and has shown balanced scoring. Meesseman remains the focal point, but Geiselsoder and Ivon have provided support. The home team’s early-season form suggests a fast pace and plenty of offensive options. Kayseri, meanwhile, will try to slow the game and turn the matchup into a half-court battle.
Interstat’s game simulator projects a final score of Fenerbahce 89, Kayseri 71.
