Botas at Emlak
ISTANBUL (Interstat) — Emlak will host Botas on Saturday in a women’s professional basketball game, with both teams looking to build early-season momentum in a matchup of contrasting recent form.
Botas enters with a 1-0 record after a home win over CBK Mersin. Botas won 83-74 in that game, getting 24 points from Nia Clouden, 15 points from Evelyn Akhator and 14 points, nine rebounds and seven assists from Jaime Nared. Nared, a player to watch for Botas, played 35 minutes in the win and helped control the offense with her passing and rebounding.
Emlak is 2-1 and comes off a road victory at Girona. Emlak won 81-69 as Pallas Kunaiyi Akpanah recorded 19 points, 12 rebounds and two blocks in 35 minutes. Reka Lelik scored 29 points, and Stephanie Mavunga added six points, 12 rebounds, three assists and one block. The win gave Emlak a second victory in three games to start the season.
Kunaiyi Akpanah, Emlak’s player to watch, has been productive throughout the early schedule. She had 12 points and four rebounds at Fenerbahce and 19 points and five rebounds at Panathinaikos. Emlak beat Panathinaikos 91-68 earlier this season and lost 87-78 at Fenerbahce. Those results have given Emlak a mix of road success and a difficult loss against a strong opponent.
Botas will look to Nared to set the tone on offense and on the boards. She finished with 14 points, nine rebounds and seven assists in the team’s most recent outing. Clouden’s 24-point performance and Akhator’s 15-point effort gave Botas a balanced attack in that win. Botas will need similar production to counter Emlak’s size and scoring depth.
Emlak’s offense has multiple options. Lelik’s 29-point game led the way at Girona, while Kunaiyi Akpanah controlled the interior with 12 rebounds. Mavunga also reached double figures in rebounds, giving Emlak a strong presence inside. Emlak has shown it can share the scoring load through its first three games.
The matchup features two teams with different early-season results. Botas is unbeaten, while Emlak has won two of three. Botas will try to remain perfect on the road against an Emlak team that has scored at a high rate. Emlak will aim to protect its home court and continue its recent form. After Saturday, Botas is scheduled to host Nesibe, and Emlak is scheduled to visit Ormanspor. Botas is also scheduled to face Kayseri, Besiktas, Turgutlu and Fenerbahce in upcoming games. Emlak is set to meet Lublin, Galatasaray and CBK Mersin later in its schedule.
Interstat’s game simulator projects a final score of Emlak 90, Botas 72.
