Derthona at Brescia

BRESCIA (Interstat) — Derthona will look to build on a season-opening victory when it visits Brescia on Sunday in a women’s professional basketball game.

Derthona enters 1-0 after a 75-54 win over Battipaglia. Anastasia Conte was among the top performers, finishing with 17 points, three rebounds and two assists in 18 minutes. Francesca Leonardi added 14 points, four rebounds and two assists in 24 minutes, while Cornelia Fondren contributed six points, seven rebounds, six assists and one block in 23 minutes. Derthona’s balanced attack and defensive effort produced a 21-point margin. Battipaglia was held to 54 points, and Derthona will aim to carry that form into its first road test. The team’s opening performance included contributions from multiple players, a sign of the depth it can use against Brescia.

Brescia is 0-1 after opening with a 92-50 loss at Reyer Venezia. The home side will be looking for a better start and more consistent play on both ends of the floor. Allanis Delboni Da Silva, Martina Crippa and Sofia Balzani were Brescia’s most productive players in that game. The team will need contributions throughout its rotation to compete with Derthona. Playing at home should give Brescia a chance to settle in early, and the hosts will try to correct the issues that hurt them in the opener. Brescia’s defense will need to be sharper after allowing 92 points in its first game.

Conte is the player to watch for Derthona. She was efficient in the opener, scoring 17 points in 18 minutes, and her ability to create shots and set up teammates will be central to Derthona’s plans. Leonardi and Fondren give Derthona additional scoring, rebounding and playmaking options. Brescia will need to limit transition chances, defend the perimeter and keep Derthona off the offensive glass. Derthona will try to push the pace and use its depth to wear down the hosts. If Conte draws extra attention, her teammates could find more room to operate.

After Sunday, Derthona is scheduled to visit Fribourg before returning home to face Broni. Brescia is set to visit Libertas Livorno in its next game. Both teams are in the early part of their schedules, with opportunities to establish momentum in the coming weeks. The matchup offers Brescia a chance to even its record at home and Derthona an opportunity to stay unbeaten. The early schedule gives both clubs a chance to measure progress and build confidence.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a final score of Derthona 77, Brescia 69. Interstat’s ELO system gives Derthona an 85.3 percent probability to win.
