TORTONA, Italy (Interstat) — Derthona used a fast start and balanced scoring to beat visiting Battipaglia 75-54 on Sunday in women’s professional basketball. Derthona led after scoring 26 points in the first quarter and 24 in the second, while Battipaglia managed 11 and 10. Battipaglia responded with 17 points in the third, while Derthona scored nine, and both teams scored 16 in the fourth. Francesca Leonardi paced Derthona with 24 minutes, 14 points, four rebounds and two assists. Anastasia Conte added 17 points, three rebounds and two assists. Gianna Dominique of Battipaglia had six points, eight rebounds, one assist and two blocks. Arianna Arado contributed 10 points, six rebounds, three assists and one block. Cornelia Fondren had six points, seven rebounds, six assists and one block. Noelani Cornfield scored 14 points with four rebounds for Battipaglia.
