The Gladiators led 24-15 after the first quarter, 42-26 at halftime and 61-40 through three before closing with a 25-17 fourth quarter. Maura Fitzpatrick had four rebounds and one assist in 19 minutes. Frannie Hottinger added 17 points, 13 rebounds and three assists in 23 minutes. Emma Kerr grabbed one rebound in five minutes. Kerry McGhee had two assists in 14 minutes. Tia Freeman contributed eight points, six rebounds and a block in 17 minutes. Alix McIntosh had seven points, five rebounds and four assists in 21 minutes. Ella Doherty scored six points in 15 minutes. Taris Thornton chipped in four points, three rebounds, an assist and a block in 13 minutes. Claire Paxton paced Essex with 10 points, four rebounds, an assist and two blocks in 31 minutes. O. Forster added three points, two rebounds and an assist in 15 minutes. Caledonia improved to 1-0, while Essex fell to 0-1.
