Horsholm at Falcon

COPENHAGEN (Interstat) — Horsholm will try to build on its most recent victory when it visits Falcon on Saturday in a women’s professional basketball game in Copenhagen, Denmark. Horsholm enters with a 4-16 record, while Falcon is 15-7 and will play at home.

Horsholm snapped its recent skid with a 71-67 win over SISU in its last game. Ida Westphall led the way with 19 points, six rebounds, two assists and one block in 29 minutes. Nicoline Elena Carlsen added 11 points, four rebounds, two assists and one block, and Rosa Johansen finished with 11 points, five rebounds and two assists. Horsholm will need similar production to challenge a Falcon team that has been stronger on both ends for much of the season.

Westphall has been Horsholm’s most reliable offensive option. She scored 21 points with three rebounds and one assist in 30 minutes against Skovbakken, and she posted 12 points and four rebounds in 29 minutes against Aabyhoj. Her ability to score inside and on the perimeter gives Horsholm a focal point against Falcon’s defense. If she can draw extra attention, Horsholm’s supporting cast will need to convert open opportunities.

Falcon, meanwhile, is coming off a 73-72 loss at Amager in its most recent game. Elisabeth Brynaa Hansen had a strong all-around performance with 13 points, 11 rebounds and one assist in 30 minutes. Franciska Trzecieski added 10 points and eight rebounds, while Nikoline Sundberg scored 19 points in 14 minutes. Hansen has been productive throughout recent games. She had 16 points, six rebounds and three assists in 32 minutes at BMS Herlev, and she recorded eight points, six rebounds and three assists in 33 minutes against Skovbakken.

Hansen gives Falcon a dependable presence in the paint and on the boards. Her rebounding could be important against a Horsholm team that has struggled to keep pace with the league’s stronger teams. Falcon’s depth and balanced scoring have helped it reach 15 wins, and the team will aim to protect home advantage.

The recent head-to-head series has favored Falcon. Falcon won the most recent meeting 84-67 and also rolled to a 98-44 victory in another matchup. Horsholm’s lone recent success in the series was a 66-65 win. Horsholm has lost several games this season by double digits, while Falcon has generally taken care of business against teams below it in the standings.

Horsholm’s upcoming schedule remains difficult, with road games and matchups against Skovbakken Bears, Amager, Herlev and SISU. Falcon’s next stretch includes games against Aabyhoj, SISU, Amager and Skovbakken Bears. Both teams will also meet again later in the season, but the focus is on the contest on Saturday.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a final score of Falcon 73, Horsholm 64.
