VERONA, Italy (Interstat) — Alpo defeated Faenza 73-59 on Sunday, May 10, in Italy A2 women’s basketball action. Alpo shot 22 of 68 from the floor, including 8 of 23 from three-point range, and made all 21 free throws. Faenza connected on 21 of 68 shots, was 5 of 27 behind the arc and converted all 12 free throws. Both teams committed 12 turnovers and 17 fouls. Alpo secured 11 offensive rebounds to Faenza’s seven.

Center Serena Soglia powered Alpo with 15 points and 16 rebounds, adding three assists. Guard Antonia Peresson contributed 15 points, six rebounds and three assists, while forward Martina Rosignoli also scored 15 points. Small forward Alice Gregori added eight points and four rebounds. For Faenza, Lilli Onnela led all scorers with 24 points, seven rebounds and two blocks, and Sara Ronchi added 12 points and five rebounds.

Alpo improved to 23-8, while Faenza dropped to 20-9. The teams meet again Wednesday in Faenza.
