Tresnjevka vs. Brod na Savi
SLAVONSKI BROD, Croatia (Interstat) — Brod na Savi, boasting a 22-2 record across all competitions, hosts Tresnjevka (18-12) on Saturday in a women’s professional basketball matchup organized by Croatia in Croatia. The game tips off at 7 p.m. local time at the sports hall in Slavonski Brod.
Brod na Savi enters on a high after a 82-71 road win against Tresnjevka on Tuesday, May 5, led by guard Iva Slonjsak’s 30 points, six rebounds and three assists. The victory improved the home side’s dominance this season, with its only blemishes coming against Tresnjevka (a 62-55 loss on May 2) and a 66-44 win over the same opponent Jan. 24.
Tresnjevka, meanwhile, split the last two meetings with its in-country rival. The May 2 win in Slavonski Brod saw Lea Vukic post 15 points, four rebounds and three assists. Vukic, a power forward, has been a consistent threat: she scored 23 points, grabbed nine boards and dished three assists in Tuesday’s loss, and had 20 points, three rebounds and two assists in an 85-62 victory against Rijeka on April 26.
Slonjsak, a shooting guard for Brod na Savi, has been equally pivotal. Besides her 30-point outburst on Tuesday, she tallied 12 points, three rebounds and one assist in the May 2 defeat, and recorded 13 points and six rebounds in an 86-56 rout at Pozega on April 25.
The season series is tied 2-2 after four games. Brod na Savi won 66-44 on Jan. 24, while Tresnjevka took the Oct. 18 meeting 83-56. Saturday’s contest could have implications for postseason seeding, though both teams already have strong records.
Brod na Savi enters with a six-game winning streak, including a 104-60 demolition at Zadar on April 17 and a 97-72 home win over Rijeka on March 11. Tresnjevka is 3-3 in its last six, with losses to Ragusa (64-62 on April 18) and Zagreb (76-68 on April 12) mixed with a 116-77 victory at Zadar on March 22.
Tip-off is at 7 p.m. local time.
