Tresnjevka vs. Brod na Savi
SLAVONSKI BROD, Croatia (Interstat) — Brod na Savi, boasting a dominant 21-1 record across all competitions, will host Tresnjevka (17-11) in a Women’s Croatian professional basketball league matchup Saturday at 7 p.m. local time at Slavonski Brod.
The game carries significant weight as the teams conclude a brief in-season home-and-home series. They will meet again Tuesday at Tresnjevka.
Brod na Savi enters on a 10-game winning streak after a 86-56 road victory against Pozega on April 25. The top team in the league has lost only once this season, a 83-56 defeat at Tresnjevka on Oct. 18, 2025. However, Brod na Savi avenged that loss emphatically on Jan. 24, 2026, routing Tresnjevka 66-44 at home.
Forward Ana Marija Begic has been the catalyst for Brod na Savi’s success. The 2025-26 standout is coming off a 26-point, five-assist performance against Pozega with 30 minutes played. In the previous two games before that — wins over Zadar (104-60) and Medvescak (91-52) — Begic averaged 18 points and 6.5 rebounds while playing limited minutes due to the lopsided scores. She also contributed two rebounds and five assists in the Jan. 24 victory over Tresnjevka.
Tresnjevka is looking to regain consistency after a 85-62 home win over Rijeka on April 26 snapped a two-game losing streak. Guard Katarina Mihalj led the way with 13 points, nine rebounds and four assists in 37 minutes. The performance followed a difficult stretch: Mihalj scored just two points on 1-of-7 shooting in a 76-68 loss to Zagreb on April 12, and managed three points in a 64-62 loss at Ragusa on April 18.
Guard Rita Oliveira also played a key role in the Rijeka win with 19 points and eight assists, while center Ana Vojtulek added 11 points and nine rebounds.
The series has been competitive. Since Brod na Savi’s 56-83 loss in October, Tresnjevka has lost three of its last four games overall, including the Jan. 24 defeat at Brod na Savi. Saturday’s game could determine playoff seeding for both teams as the regular season enters its final weeks.
