JAMES CRAIK, Argentina (Interstat) — Deportivo Chanares defeated Berazategui 58-51 on Saturday in a women’s professional basketball game. Deportivo Chanares improved to 36-6 across all competitions, while Berazategui fell to 20-19.

Stefania Lucero led Deportivo Chanares with 14 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Regina Carosio also scored 14 points. Sofia Acevedo paced Berazategui with 10 points and eight rebounds, and Julieta Armesto added 13 points.

Deportivo Chanares held a decisive edge on the offensive glass, grabbing 16 offensive rebounds to Berazategui’s four. The home team also forced 20 turnovers while committing 16. Both teams shot perfectly from the free throw line, Deportivo Chanares making 10 of 10 and Berazategui making 8 of 8.

Berazategui shot 20 of 56 from the floor and 3 of 19 from 3-point range. Deportivo Chanares shot 21 of 67 overall and 6 of 34 from beyond the arc. The two teams are scheduled to meet again Sunday.
