Pozega vs. Medvescak
ZAGREB, Croatia (Interstat) — A struggling Medvescak squad will look to build on a rare winning streak when it hosts Pozega in a women’s professional basketball matchup Sunday.
The game, organized by the Croatia league, tips off at 6 p.m. local time.
Medvescak (2-18) enters on a two-game win streak, its only victories of the season, following triumphs over Zadar and Split in late March. The team’s momentum was halted, however, by a 52-91 road loss to Brod na Savi on April 11.
The home side will rely heavily on forward Marina Kusanovic, who has been a consistent all-around force. She is coming off a 13-point, 11-rebound, 5-assist performance in the loss to Brod na Savi and nearly averaged a triple-double during the two-win stretch.
Pozega (10-9) seeks to regain footing after a 56-62 road loss to Rijeka on March 28. In that game, forwards Marija Soldo (15 points, 8 rebounds) and Lea Miletic (13 points, 10 rebounds) led the way, while Jelena Brkicic pulled down 16 rebounds.
The season series is split, with each team recording a lopsided home victory. Pozega dominated the first meeting 98-62 on Dec. 14, 2025. The teams then played to a 0-0 result the day before this preview, on Saturday, April 18, 2026, though details of that unusual contest were not immediately available.
Based on the Dec. 14 result, Pozega’s frontcourt, featuring Soldo, Miletic and Brkicic, poses a significant challenge for Medvescak’s interior defense. Containing Kusanovic will be the primary defensive task for the visitors.
For Medvescak, sustaining the defensive intensity that fueled its March wins is crucial to pulling off an upset. Pozega aims to leverage its size and experience to exploit the league’s bottom-standing team and improve its position in the standings.
Following this contest, Pozega hosts Split on April 23. Medvescak’s next game is at Zadar on April 25.
