Top Euroleague Women Contenders Collide as Reyer Venezia Hosts Schio

VENICE, Italy (Interstat) — A pivotal Euroleague Women clash with playoff implications is set for Thursday when Reyer Venezia hosts Famila Wuber Schio in a rematch of a game played just three days prior.

The matchup features two of Italy’s premier clubs, with Schio (32-8 overall) and Venezia (32-11) boasting nearly identical sterling records. The home side, however, carries the psychological edge from a 71-60 road victory over Schio on Monday.

That recent result continued a season trend in the intense head-to-head series. While Schio won three of the first four meetings this season, Venezia has taken the last two, including a 62-51 win on March 3. The teams have split their six encounters since November 2025.

Schio will look to break that recent skid and avenge Monday’s loss, where their offense struggled. Forward Jessica Shepard was a force on the glass with 14 rebounds but was limited to 6 points. Shepard has been consistently productive, averaging a double-double in recent contests, and her interior battle will be key.

For Venezia, guard Mariella Santucci is coming off a standout performance in Monday’s win, leading all scorers with 16 points while adding 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Her backcourt play against Schio’s Giorgia Sottana, who scored 12 points in the last meeting, will be a critical duel.

Both teams are coming off dominant domestic stretches aside from their head-to-head results. Schio had won four straight before Monday’s loss, including decisive victories over Derthona. Venezia had won three consecutive games before a narrow road loss to Girona on April 15.

The game tips off at 8:30 p.m. local time at the Palasport Taliercio in Venice. With playoff seeding likely on the line, Thursday’s contest offers Schio a chance for immediate redemption and Venezia an opportunity to solidify a season-series advantage.
