Crvena Zvezda vs. Student Nis
Preview of Euroleague Women Playoff Game 2: Crvena Zvezda at Student Nis
NIS, Serbia (Interstat) — The dominant Crvena Zvezda women’s basketball team looks to move within one win of advancing Saturday when it visits Student Nis in Game 2 of their Euroleague Women playoff series.
The matchup tips off at 7 p.m. local time at Nis’s home arena.
Crvena Zvezda, the visiting side, seized command of the best-of-five series with a commanding 100-75 victory in Game 1 on Wednesday. The Belgrade-based powerhouse enters with a staggering 31-4 overall record and has won 15 consecutive games, with an average margin of victory exceeding 40 points during that streak.
Student Nis, 23-10, faces a must-win scenario to avoid a 2-0 series deficit before traveling for Game 3. The home team has lost all three meetings this season to Zvezda by an average of 28.3 points.
A key matchup will feature two of the league’s top forwards. Crvena Zvezda’s Dorian Sujic is coming off a spectacular 35-point performance in Game 1. Over her last five games, she is averaging 18.8 points and 4.0 rebounds in just 20.4 minutes per contest.
For Student Nis, Nevena Vuckovic will be crucial. She nearly posted a double-double with 17 points and nine rebounds in the series opener. In her last five appearances, Vuckovic has averaged 16.4 points and 10.6 rebounds, providing a consistent interior presence.
Crvena Zvezda’s depth has been overwhelming. In Game 1, Dulcy Mendjiadeu added 20 points and seven rebounds off the bench, while point guard Ivana Katanic dished 10 assists. Student Nis will need a significant defensive improvement and major contributions from guards like Nadezda Nedeljkov, who scored 20 points Wednesday, to extend the series.
Game 3 is scheduled for Wednesday, April 22, in Belgrade.
