PREVIEW: UMMC, Dynamo Kursk Meet in Russian League Clash

KURSK, Russia (Interstat) — The top two teams in Russian women’s professional basketball will meet Saturday when UMMC visits Dynamo Kursk at Kursk Arena.

UMMC enters the matchup with a dominant 33-1 record across all competitions. The defending champions have won their last 10 games, including two recent victories over Saturday’s opponent. Maria Klyundikova has been a force for UMMC, posting a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds in Tuesday’s 69-60 win against Dynamo Kursk. The center also had 16 points and seven rebounds in an April 19 victory over the same team.

Dynamo Kursk holds a 28-7 record this season and will look to defend home court. Olga Frolkina has been the team’s most consistent performer, averaging 14 points and five assists in Tuesday’s loss. She scored 28 points in an April 8 victory at Nika.

The teams have split their last five head-to-head meetings. UMMC won 84-60 in November, but Dynamo Kursk earned a 103-93 victory at home in January. UMMC has taken the last three contests, including 78-58 and 66-55 decisions.
