CSM Sportul vs. U-Cluj Napoca
CLUJ NAPOCA, Romania (Interstat) — U-Cluj Napoca will look to continue its recent dominance over CSM Sportul when the women’s professional basketball teams meet Friday in Romanian league play.
The game is scheduled for April 17, 2026, in Cluj Napoca.
U-Cluj (11-12) holds a clear advantage in the season series, having won the two previous matchups decisively. The home team routed Sportul 97-59 on Oct. 18, 2025, before securing a 74-45 victory in Bucharest on Dec. 21.
Entering the contest, U-Cluj holds a middling record but remains above .500 at home this season. They are coming off a strong 76-50 road victory over CSUP Timisoara on March 29. In that win, forward Lauryn Morris delivered a dominant performance with 26 points and 18 rebounds, while guard Rebecca Lipovan added 19 points and six assists.
CSM Sportul (7-13) seeks to reverse a troubling trend against U-Cluj and build on its most recent result—an 80-56 road win against Agronomia on March 30. Elena Zane led the way in that victory with 18 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Anisia Stefania Constantinescu added a team-high 19 points.
Despite that encouraging win, Sportul’s season has been marked by inconsistency, including several lopsided losses. Their defense will be tested by a U-Cluj offense that averaged 85.5 points in the two head-to-head meetings this season.
The matchup features a contrast in recent form. U-Cluj has won three of its last four games, all by 26 or more points. CSM Sportul has split its last four contests, with the two wins coming against bottom-table Agronomia.
U-Cluj will rely on its interior presence, led by Morris, while Sportul hopes guards Zane and Constantinescu can generate offense from the perimeter. History heavily favors the home side, but Sportul aims to carry the momentum from its last outing into a hostile environment.
