Bourges vs. Charnay
Preview: Bourges Looks to Continue Dominance Against Charnay in Women’s Basketball
CHARNAY-LES-MACON, France (Interstat) — A surging Bourges squad will visit a .500 Charnay team looking for a statement win when the women’s professional basketball clubs meet Sunday in a France LF matchup.
The game at Charnay-les-Macon will be a quick rematch of their March 24 contest, which Bourges won 84-71 at home. Bourges also won the previous meeting this season, 73-66 on the road last December.
Bourges (24-12 across all competitions) enters on a strong run, having won three straight games, including an 86-42 rout of Angers on March 28. Charnay (15-15) seeks to rebound from a narrow 69-67 home loss to Landerneau on the same date.
A key player to watch for Bourges is forward Marie Paule Dally. She dominated Charnay in their last matchup, scoring 18 points with six rebounds and four assists in 33 minutes. She is coming off a 14-point, seven-rebound performance against Angers.
Charnay will counter with guard Sara Chevaugeon, who scored 17 points in the loss to Landerneau. She was held to 11 points in the last game against Bourges.
Bourges boasts a more balanced and potent offense, evidenced by three players scoring 14 or more points in the blowout of Angers, including Tima Pouye’s 22 points and Laetitia Guapo’s 18. Charnay has shown resilience, with recent tight victories over Toulouse and Montpellier, but consistency has been an issue.
The home team will need a major defensive effort to contain Bourges’ multiple scoring threats and find more production beyond Chevaugeon and forward Shakayla Thomas, who had 14 points and eight rebounds in the last outing.
This contest serves as a precursor to an immediate rematch, as the teams are scheduled to meet again in Bourges on April 12.
Tipoff is set for Sunday afternoon.
