Chartres vs. Landes
Preview: Chartres Faces Uphill Battle at League-Leading Landes
MONTS DE MARSAN, France (Interstat) — A stark contrast in fortunes will be on display Saturday when the struggling Chartres women’s basketball team visits the powerhouse Landes in a France LF matchup.
The game, scheduled for April 11, 2026, at Monts de Marsan, pits teams at opposite ends of the standings. Landes enters with a formidable 29-9 record across all competitions, firmly among the league’s elite. Chartres, meanwhile, has struggled to a 7-16 mark, seeking consistency in the season’s final stretches.
Landes has dominated the recent series, winning all three meetings this season by an average margin of 20 points. The most recent was a 97-82 victory at Chartres just one week prior, on April 4.
Chartres will look to guard Jasmine Bailey to spark an upset. Bailey was a bright spot in last week’s loss to Landes, contributing 15 points, five rebounds and five assists in 27 minutes. She is averaging 13.3 points, 5.0 rebounds and 5.3 assists over her last three games.
For Landes, guard Leila Lacan poses a major scoring threat. She torched Chartres for 26 points in just 19 minutes off the bench in the April 4 meeting, demonstrating the depth and firepower of the home side. Landes has won eight of its last ten domestic contests.
Chartres, coming off that loss to Landes, had shown signs of life with back-to-back wins over La Roche Vendee and Lyon in late March. Replicating that form against the league leaders on the road presents a far greater challenge.
Landes’s next game is against Zaragoza in Eurocup play on April 15, but the club will be heavily favored to extend its domestic mastery against Chartres first. The key for Chartres will be finding defensive answers for Landes’s balanced attack, which saw four players score in double figures in the teams’ last encounter.
Tip-off is set for Saturday evening in Monts de Marsan.
