Sodertalje vs. Norrkoping
Preview: Sodertalje at Norrkoping, Women’s Basketball
NORRKOPING, Sweden (Interstat) — A critical late-season clash with playoff implications is set for Saturday when Sodertalje visits Norrkoping in a Swedish women’s professional basketball matchup.
The teams enter with identical 16-11 records across all competitions, locked in a tight battle in the standings. The contest is the second of a quick home-and-home series, adding immediate intensity. Norrkoping edged Sodertalje 86-82 just three days prior on Wednesday.
Sodertalje will look to avenge that narrow loss and replicate its dominant 89-72 road win from Jan. 31. The visitors are led by veteran forward Louice Halvarsson, who is coming off a stellar all-around performance in Wednesday’s defeat, posting 16 points, seven rebounds and six assists. Over her last four games, she is averaging 16.5 points, 7.8 rebounds and 4.0 assists.
Norrkoping counters with its own formidable frontcourt presence in Merit Brennecke. The forward was pivotal in the recent victory over Sodertalje, contributing 15 points and nine rebounds. She has recorded a double-double in three of her last four outings, averaging 12.5 points and 10.3 rebounds over that span.
The backcourt battle will also be key. Sodertalje’s Laura Zolper erupted for 24 points in the last meeting, while Norrkoping’s Jasmyne Roberts led all scorers with 26 points on Wednesday.
Both teams have shown recent consistency, with each winning three of their last five games. The season series stands at 2-1 in favor of Norrkoping, but the margins have been razor-thin, with two of the three meetings decided by four points or fewer.
Saturday’s result will provide crucial momentum before the teams conclude their series in Sodertalje on Monday, April 13. Tipoff is scheduled for Saturday afternoon at Norrkoping’s home arena.
