Malbas vs. Lulea
Preview: Malbas Faces Daunting Task at League-Leading Lulea
LULEA, Sweden (March 26, 2026) (Interstat) — The Malbas women’s professional basketball team faces its toughest test of the season Friday when it visits the powerhouse Lulea squad at Lulea, Sweden.
The matchup pits a surging but inconsistent Malbas (13-11) against a dominant Lulea (22-2) that has established itself as the clear team to beat in the league. The game is scheduled for Friday, March 27.
Lulea, riding high atop the standings, has won both previous meetings this season decisively. They routed Malbas 86-44 at home on Jan. 23 and earned an 88-63 victory in Malbas on Oct. 24. Malbas has lost two of its last three games, including a 69-66 defeat at AIK on March 7, but is coming off a 71-66 home win over Hogsbo on March 21.
For Malbas to have any chance at an upset, a massive performance from forward Mykel Parham will be essential. Parham is coming off an 18-rebound effort against Hogsbo and recorded an 18-point, 15-rebound, 3-block game in the loss to AIK. Her ability to control the glass against Lulea’s formidable frontcourt will be critical.
Lulea counters with star forward Fanny Wadling, a versatile force who nearly posted a triple-double with 16 rebounds and 8 assists to go with 7 points in a tight 71-66 win over Uppsala last Friday. Wadling also scored 20 points with 12 rebounds and 5 assists in a road win at Norrkoping on March 7. Guard Jewel Spear, who erupted for 29 points against Uppsala, provides a potent scoring threat alongside Wadling.
Malbas will need secondary scoring to emerge, likely from Linnea Norberg (14 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists vs. Hogsbo) and Elisabeth Hansen (11 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists). Containing Lulea’s high-powered offense, which has topped 100 points three times this season, presents the greatest challenge.
The teams will meet again in Malbas just two days later on Sunday, March 29, making this weekend a pivotal back-to-back set. For now, Malbas aims to find a formula that has eluded them against Lulea this season: competitiveness.
