Zadar vs. Split

Preview: Zadar Looks to Sweep Season Series Against Struggling Split

SPLIT, Croatia (Interstat) — Two teams seeking to end lengthy slides will meet Sunday when Zadar visits Split in a Croatian women’s professional basketball matchup.

The game, scheduled for March 8, 2026, in Split, pits clubs with a combined 4-27 record across all competitions this season. Zadar enters at 3-12, while Split sits at 1-15.

Despite their struggles, Zadar won the only previous meeting between the sides this season, a 70-65 home victory on Nov. 8, 2025. The teams also faced off in a neutral-site contest on March 7, 2026, which resulted in a 0-0 score, a game presumed to be a forfeit or cancellation not reflected in the official standings.

Zadar will lean on the momentum of a recent strong individual performance despite a loss. In a 78-75 defeat to KASL Split on Feb. 14, forward Brooke Flowers recorded a dominant 18-point, 20-rebound double-double, adding four assists and three blocks. Sara Herceg added 25 points and seven rebounds.

Split is reeling from a 78-43 home loss to Rijeka on Feb. 15. Bruna Mrcela led Split in that contest with 14 points, while Iva Tabak contributed 11 points and five rebounds.

Both teams have found consistent victory elusive. Zadar’s last win was its Nov. 8 triumph over Split. Since then, Zadar has lost eight straight, including several lopsided defeats. Split’s lone win this season was a 45-44 result over Medvescak on Nov. 22, 2025. They have lost 10 consecutive games since, often by wide margins.

The matchup represents a critical opportunity for either club to build confidence. For Zadar, a road win would secure a season-series sweep. For Split, a victory at home would snap a months-long losing streak and provide a rare bright spot in a difficult campaign.

Following this contest, Zadar will host Tresnjevka on March 21. Split will travel to face Medvescak on the same date.
