Broni vs. Schio
SCHIO, Italy (Interstat) — A stark contrast in fortunes will be on display Wednesday when Euroleague Women power Schio hosts struggling Broni at Palazzo Tognella.
Schio (28-7 across all competitions) enters as one of the continent’s dominant teams, while Broni (7-13) has managed just one victory in its last nine outings. The head-to-head history this season underscores the mismatch: Schio routed Broni 87-44 on Oct. 19 and 81-40 on Jan. 10.
The home side seeks a swift rebound from a rare stumble, a 62-51 road loss to Reyer Venezia on March 3. In that defeat, forward Jessica Shepard posted a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Schio’s depth and consistency have been hallmarks, losing consecutive games only once this season.
Broni, meanwhile, is mired in a prolonged slump, coming off a 76-51 defeat to Derthona on March 4. Jillian Archer grabbed 11 rebounds in that loss, and Andrijana Cvitkovic added 8 points and 7 boards, but offensive production remains a critical issue. The team has failed to reach 60 points in seven of its last nine games.
Schio’s formidable defense, which held Broni to 40 points in January, will look to exploit that offensive anemia. The matchup inside between Schio’s Shepard and Broni’s Archer will be a key battleground.
With the playoffs approaching, Schio aims to solidify its seeding, while Broni searches for any sign of momentum. The teams will meet again in Broni just four days later on March 29.
Tipoff is set for Wednesday night in Schio.
