Norwood edges Noarlunga City in NBL One women’s contest

MARDEN, Australia (Interstat) — Maddy Hinton scored 21 points and pulled down nine rebounds to lead Norwood to a 78-70 victory over Noarlunga City on Sunday in an Australia NBL One women’s professional basketball game at Marden.

Cali Clark added 16 points and 17 rebounds for Norwood, which improved to 7-5. Amy Cotton contributed 17 points and four rebounds, while Ally Becki chipped in 11 points and three assists.

Noarlunga City, now 5-7, got double-doubles from Holly Forbes and Mollie McKendrick. Forbes finished with 17 points and 11 rebounds, and McKendrick recorded 17 points and 10 rebounds. Annelise Bartsch scored 14 points, and Paige York added eight points off the bench.

Norwood jumped ahead early and maintained the lead throughout, with Hinton providing the offensive spark. The Flames’ defense limited Noarlunga City’s perimeter shooting, forcing contested looks.

The win avenged Norwood’s earlier loss to Noarlunga City on March 28, when the visiting side won by 11 points.
