Kilsyth vs. Mount Gambier

MT GAMBIER, Australia (Interstat) — Mount Gambier looks to continue its strong season when it hosts Kilsyth in an NBL1 South women’s basketball matchup Friday, June 19, 2026, at the Mount Gambier Basketball Stadium.

The Pioneers enter the game with a 10-6 record, while the visiting Kilsyth Cobras sit at 4-10. Mount Gambier has won four of its last five games, including a 93-66 victory over Geelong on June 14. Kilsyth, meanwhile, has lost nine of its last 10 contests and is coming off a 89-79 defeat at Bendigo on the same day.

Mount Gambier forward Kelsey Rees has been a force in the paint. In the win against Geelong, Rees logged 30 minutes and posted 18 points, 15 rebounds, four assists and three blocks. Two nights earlier, against Northern Force, she had 15 points and five rebounds in a 109-90 victory. Rees is a key inside presence for a Pioneers team averaging more than 82 points per game.

Kilsyth guard Nikita Young has been the Cobras’ most consistent performer despite the team’s struggles. In the loss at Bendigo, Young played 31 minutes and contributed 17 points, three rebounds, eight assists and one block. She scored 20 points on May 24 at Sandringham and added 10 points against Knox on May 30. Young’s playmaking will be critical if Kilsyth hopes to slow Mount Gambier’s up-tempo attack.

The Cobras have dropped three straight games and have not won since an 82-80 home victory over Waverley on April 16. Emme Shearer scored 19 points in the Bendigo loss, and Lily Exton added eight points and eight rebounds.

Mount Gambier also got strong contributions from Grace Champion, who scored 21 points against Geelong, and forward Carla Pitman, who had 10 points, two rebounds and five assists. The Pioneers have shown resilience after losing four of five games in late April and early May.

Kilsyth’s offense has averaged 71.6 points per game this season, while allowing 83.2. Mount Gambier has been more balanced, outscoring opponents by an average of 5.7 points per game.

Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. local time.
