Rockhampton vs. Ipswich
BOOVAL, Australia (Interstat) — Rockhampton will visit Ipswich on Sunday, June 7, 2026, in a women’s professional basketball game as both teams try to climb from the bottom of the NBL Australia standings. Rockhampton (1-7) has lost six straight contests, while Ipswich (2-5) carries a two-game losing streak into the matchup at Booval.
The host Ipswich side has shown flashes, but inconsistency has plagued its 2-5 start. Forward Valerie Huerta has been a bright spot, averaging 17 points in her last three games. On May 31, Huerta scored 20 points with five rebounds and four assists in a 74-61 loss at South West Metro. She also posted 13 points and five boards in a 78-74 defeat at S.C. Phoenix on May 24. Against Brisbane on May 16, Huerta had 18 points, four rebounds and four assists in a 82-62 win. Guard Hannah Young contributed 13 points and six rebounds in the South West Metro loss, and guard Olivia West added nine points and five boards.
Rockhampton finds itself in a deeper hole, with its only victory coming May 23 against Gold Coast, 90-80. Since then, Rockhampton has dropped four consecutive games, most recently an 87-82 loss at Logan on June 5. Guard Shanique Lucas has been the catalyst for Rockhampton’s offense. In the Logan defeat, Lucas played 33 minutes and recorded 28 points, five rebounds and eight assists. That followed a 13-point, eight-rebound, four-assist effort against Northside on May 30 and an 11-point, five-rebound, five-assist performance at North Gold Coast on May 24. Lucas’s best outing came in the win over Gold Coast: 31 points, six rebounds and six assists. Forward Emily Kiser has also been productive, including 17 points and 16 rebounds against Logan. Guard Gracie Stugart added 15 points and seven boards in that game.
Both teams have struggled defensively, each allowing at least 74 points in recent losses. Ipswich’s home court may provide a slight edge, but Rockhampton’s Lucas is capable of carrying her team to an upset. The game tips off at Booval in Booval, Australia, with both squads seeking a much-needed win to avoid falling further behind in the standings.
