Inner West vs. Maitland
MAITLAND, Australia (Interstat) — The winless Inner West squad visits Maitland on Sunday, June 14, in a matchup of struggling NBL women’s teams.
Inner West carries an 0-12 record into the 2 p.m. game at Maitland, while the home side sits at 5-8. The two teams met April 12, with Maitland winning 83-55 on the road.
Sunday’s game offers a contrast in recent form. Inner West lost 102-63 at Hills on May 31, its 12th consecutive defeat. Forward Seehia Ridard logged 40 minutes in that loss, scoring 30 points with three rebounds and five assists. The 30-point outing followed a 24-point, seven-rebound effort May 24 against Albury Wodonga and a 15-point game May 23 at Bankstown. Ridard, a forward, has been Inner West’s most consistent scorer during the losing streak.
Maitland enters on a high after a 79-69 win Saturday against Sydney Comets. Forward Shakera Reilly played 36 minutes and produced 15 points, seven rebounds and eight assists in that victory. Reilly also had 20 points and nine rebounds in a 76-72 loss at Northern Suburbs on May 30, and she posted 15 points, nine rebounds and four assists in a 71-61 loss to Manly Warringah on May 24. Across her past four games, Reilly has averaged 17 points, 7.8 rebounds and 4.8 assists.
Inner West has been outscored by an average margin of 38.3 points per game this season. Its closest result was a 78-65 loss at Central Coast on April 26. Maitland has split its past four games, with the win over Sydney Comets snapping a two-game skid.
After Sunday, Inner West plays at Canberra Nationals on June 20 and at Centre of Excellence on June 21. Maitland hosts Central Coast on June 27 before traveling to Hills on July 4.
