Dandenong vs. Frankston

Preview: Dandenong at Frankston in NBL Women’s Clash

SEAFORD, Australia (Interstat) — A struggling Dandenong squad aims to build on a rare victory when it visits a surging Frankston team in a National Basketball League women’s contest Friday at Seaford.

The matchup pits teams on opposite trajectories early in the season. The visiting Dandenong Rangers (1-4) snapped a four-game losing streak with an 88-67 home win over the Bendigo Braves on April 18. The Frankston Blues (3-2), however, have won three of their last five and are coming off an 81-74 home victory over Kilsyth on the same date.

The game will feature a compelling duel between two of the league’s top performers. Dandenong will rely heavily on forward Imogen Rock, who is coming off a dominant performance with 22 points, 15 rebounds and seven assists in 39 minutes against Bendigo. Over her last four games, Rock is averaging 17.3 points and 8.8 rebounds.

Frankston counters with its own star forward, Louise Brown, who is in exceptional form. Brown exploded for 32 points and 10 rebounds in the win over Kilsyth and has recorded a double-double in four consecutive games. During that stretch, she is averaging 24.4 points and 12.4 rebounds, establishing herself as one of the league’s most formidable interior forces.

For Dandenong to secure a road win, containing Brown will be paramount. Support for Rock will also be critical; Clare Camac (11 points, 10 rebounds) and Holly Griffiths (14 points, nine rebounds) provided key contributions in the victory over Bendigo.

Frankston, which has shown resilience with two narrow road wins earlier in the season, will look to leverage its home court and superior record. Guard Emily Monaghan, who added 17 points and eight rebounds in the last outing, offers a vital secondary scoring option alongside Brown.

The Blues won the teams’ most recent meeting last season, 85-78, on June 21, 2025.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. local time at Seaford. Frankston travels to Ballarat on Sunday, while Dandenong’s next game is at home against Ringwood on May 2.
