Cairns vs. Rockhampton

ROCKHAMPTON, Australia (Interstat) — The undefeated Cairns women’s basketball team brings a 7-0 record into a Friday night matchup against Rockhampton at Rockhampton in an NBL game scheduled for June 12, 2026.

Cairns, the league’s only remaining unbeaten team, has dominated opponents by an average margin of more than 20 points through its first seven games. Rockhampton enters the contest at 2-8, having lost eight of its first 10 games, but earned a victory in its most recent outing.

The visiting Cairns squad features forward Summah Evans, who has posted consecutive double-doubles in her last two appearances. On May 30 against Gold Coast, Evans played 40 minutes and scored 24 points with 12 rebounds and three assists in an 87-78 victory. One week earlier, on May 23, she recorded 26 points, seven rebounds and one assist in 35 minutes during an 84-81 win over Mackay.

Cairns also received strong contributions from forward Mia Loyd, who totaled 23 points, seven rebounds and nine assists in the May 30 win, and guard Taryn Bond, who added 20 points and three assists.

Rockhampton will counter with forward Emily Kiser, who has been a consistent performer despite the team’s overall struggles. In the Cyclones’ 79-74 victory at Ipswich on June 7, Kiser played 39 minutes and finished with 24 points and 17 rebounds. She also recorded a double-double in a June 5 loss at Logan with 17 points and 16 rebounds, and posted 19 points and 16 rebounds in a May 30 loss to Northside.

Rockhampton guard Gracie Stugart contributed 17 points, 12 rebounds and six assists in the Ipswich win, while Shanique Lucas scored 24 points.

Cairns has won all of its games this season by at least six points, with six of those victories coming by margins of 12 or more. Rockhampton has lost its last four home games and has not won at home since May 23.

Friday’s game marks the first of two scheduled meetings between the teams. The Cyclones travel to Cairns on July 17 for the rematch. Cairns plays at Brisbane on Saturday, while Rockhampton is off until June 27 when it hosts Mackay.
