Syd. Comets vs. Bankstown
Preview: Syd. Comets at Bankstown in Women’s NBL Clash
CONDELL PARK, Australia (Interstat) — Two teams seeking consistency will meet Friday when the Syd. Comets visit Bankstown in a National Basketball League women’s matchup.
Both sides enter the contest at Condell Park with identical 2-2 records across all competitions, each looking to break a pattern of alternating wins and losses early in the season.
The Comets are coming off a 70-56 victory over Penrith on April 18, fueled by a dominant double-double from forward Alexandria Oliver. She posted 13 points and 14 rebounds in that win, part of a strong recent stretch. Over her last four games, Oliver is averaging 7.5 points and 8.8 rebounds. She will be a central figure for the visiting side.
Bankstown counters with its own dynamic guard in Tahlia Tupaea, who is fresh from a stellar all-around performance. In an 87-71 win against Hornsby on April 19, Tupaea stuffed the stat sheet with 20 points, five rebounds, eight assists and two blocks. Her playmaking and scoring burst provide the backbone for Bankstown’s offense.
The Comets’ recent form shows stark contrasts, following a 62-53 road win at Central Coast with a 94-60 home loss to Newcastle earlier in April. Similarly, Bankstown’s results have swung from a 74-60 road victory to a 113-61 defeat at Northern Suburbs.
Key supporting players will also be critical. For the Comets, Eryn Fisher (21 points vs. Penrith) and Mikayla Pirini (near triple-double with 10 rebounds, nine assists) offer vital support. Bankstown relies on Davida Dale, who recorded a double-double (17 points, 11 rebounds) alongside Tupaea in their last outing.
The game tips off at 7:30 p.m. local time. Following this matchup, both teams face quick turnarounds, with the Comets hosting Northern Suburbs on Saturday and Bankstown traveling to face Inner West.
