Basket Ostrava vs. Slovanka

Struggling Czech Sides Slovanka, Basket Ostrava Set for Pivotal Matchup

VODOCHODY, Czech Republic (Interstat) — Two teams desperate to halt lengthy slides will meet Sunday when Slovanka hosts Basket Ostrava in a women’s professional basketball game at Vodochody Arena.

The matchup features the two bottom teams in the league, each carrying a single victory this season across all competitions. Slovanka (1-17) last won on Dec. 5, 2025. Basket Ostrava (1-19) snapped a 15-game skid with a win on Feb. 25 but has lost two straight since, including an 81-56 defeat at Sokol HK on Thursday.

In that loss, center Emma Merriweather recorded a double-double for Ostrava with 10 points and 12 rebounds in 30 minutes. Merriweather has been a consistent bright spot, averaging 13.3 points and 12.7 rebounds over her last three games. She will be a primary focus for a Slovanka defense that allowed 94 points in its most recent outing, a loss to Lokomotiva on March 1.

Slovanka’s Jitka Pilarova scored 20 points in that game, while center Anastasiia Kovtun added a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

The teams last met on Oct. 18, 2025, with Slovanka earning a 70-61 home victory. Both sides will view Sunday’s contest as a critical opportunity to build momentum in the season’s final weeks.

For Ostrava, support for Merriweather will need to come from guards like Anna Jedlickova and forward Zuzana Krizova, who combined for 26 points in the loss to Sokol HK. Slovanka will look to control the interior against Merriweather and find scoring beyond Pilarova to secure only its second win.

The game is scheduled for a 4 p.m. local tip-off. Slovanka’s next game is at Sokol HK on Wednesday.
