OSTRAVA, Czech Republic (Interstat) — Emma Merriweather recorded 18 rebounds and three blocks to lead Basket Ostrava to a 63-60 women’s professional basketball victory over Lokomotiva on Wednesday.

The 6-foot-5 center added 14 points as the home team secured just its second win of the season. Lokomotiva’s Elizabete Bulane led all scorers with 23 points in the losing effort.

Basket Ostrava, which improved to 2-17 across all competitions, overcame a 35-point performance from Bulane. Lokomotiva fell to 7-12.

Merriweather anchored a defense that secured the narrow victory. Pamela Therese Effangova supported the effort with 15 points for Basket Ostrava, while Meghan Boyd scored 14 for Lokomotiva.

The result was an upset based on pregame projections and reversed a 95-47 Lokomotiva win when the teams met in December.
