Panathinaikos vs. Mersin

Preview: Panathinaikos Visits Mersin in Women’s Basketball Clash

MERSIN, Turkey (Interstat) — A quick rematch awaits in Turkey A women’s professional basketball on Thursday when Panathinaikos visits Mersin.

The game, scheduled for Feb. 12, 2026, at Mersin’s home arena, comes just one week after Mersin secured a 91-87 road victory over Panathinaikos on Feb. 5. That result extended Mersin’s strong run of form, while Panathinaikos looks to snap a two-game skid.

Mersin (18-9 across all competitions) enters with significant momentum, having won seven of its last eight games. Its most recent outing was an 81-63 victory over Nesibe on Feb. 8. The team’s success has been fueled by versatile guard Kennedy Burke, who is averaging a near triple-double over her last six contests. In the Feb. 5 win over Panathinaikos, Burke posted 11 points, six rebounds and seven assists.

Panathinaikos (7-4) will lean heavily on forward Artemis Spanou, who was dominant in the previous meeting despite the loss. Spanou recorded a double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds in 39 minutes. Her consistent production will be critical for the visitors, who have lost two straight close games, including a 94-93 defeat to Sosnowiec on Jan. 21 where Spanou had 15 points and 10 rebounds.

The matchup pits Mersin’s high-powered offense, which has scored at least 84 points in five consecutive wins, against a Panathinaikos squad seeking defensive answers after allowing 91 points in the first meeting. Containing Burke’s all-around game and limiting Mersin’s secondary scorers, like Manolya Kurtulmus (15 points on Feb. 8), will be a priority for Panathinaikos.

Conversely, Mersin must account for not only Spanou but also Panathinaikos guards Sedona Prince (19 points on Feb. 5) and Ioanna Krimili (18 points on Feb. 5) to complete the regular-season sweep.

Following this contest, Panathinaikos hosts Thessaloniki on Feb. 15. Mersin travels to face Emlak on the same date.
