ATHENS, Greece (Interstat) — Mersin defeated Panathinaikos 91-87 in a Eurocup Women game Thursday night.

The visiting team secured the road victory despite being projected as a heavy favorite. The game was closely contested, with Mersin ultimately holding off a Panathinaikos squad playing at home in Athens.

Kennedy Burke, a guard from Northridge, California, led Mersin. The win improves Mersin’s season record to 17-9. Panathinaikos falls to 7-4 with the loss. The two teams are scheduled to play again in Turkey on Feb. 12.
