TWIN FALLS, Idaho (Interstat) — The College of Southern Idaho Eagles delivered a dominant second-half performance to overwhelm the Dodge City Community College Conquistadors 96-56 in a women’s junior college basketball game Friday.

The Eagles, improving to 28-4 overall, broke open a competitive contest with a staggering 36-point third quarter, turning a 10-point halftime lead into an insurmountable advantage. The Conquistadors fell to 25-6.

The game’s decisive shift came immediately after halftime. Leading 38-26, Southern Idaho unleashed a 19-5 run over the first five minutes of the third period. The surge was fueled by a balanced attack and stifling defense that forced multiple Dodge City turnovers. Savannah Stoker and Chloe Jensen hit consecutive 3-pointers to ignite the run, and Ashley Garner consistently finished at the rim, as the Eagles’ lead ballooned to 57-31.

Garner, the top star for Southern Idaho, was instrumental in the victory. She finished with 21 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks, controlling the paint on both ends of the floor. Her performance anchored an Eagles offense that saw five players score in double figures. Samara Morrow added 14 points and 4 assists, while Jensen contributed 12 points, all in the second half. Stoker and Naomi Senato each chipped in 14 points, with Senato grabbing 8 rebounds.

Dodge City, which had won its previous game against Northwest Mississippi, struggled to find consistent offense outside of guard Savi Mi. Mi led the Conquistadors with 21 points and 5 assists, but received limited support. The team’s scoring by quarters — 14, 12, 12 and 18 — underscored its difficulties against Southern Idaho’s defensive pressure.

The first half offered a glimpse of resistance from Dodge City. After Southern Idaho built a 20-14 lead after one quarter, the Conquistadors managed to keep pace in the second, only being outscored 18-12. A 3-pointer and a free throw from Mi late in the period kept the deficit at 12 points heading into the locker room.

Any hope of a comeback was extinguished by Southern Idaho’s third-quarter explosion. The Eagles shot efficiently from the field and capitalized on fast-break opportunities generated by 10 team steals. By the start of the fourth quarter, the lead had expanded to 74-38, allowing both teams to utilize their benches for the final period.

Southern Idaho’s depth was on full display as 12 players saw action and 10 scored. The Eagles also dominated the glass, outrebounding Dodge City decisively.

The Conquistadors’ Charlie Melksham scored 4 points, while Jade Celerier added 3. Dodge City’s offense was hampered by 22 turnovers, which the Eagles converted into 31 points.

Southern Idaho looks to continue its momentum on the road against Eastern Arizona on Saturday. Dodge City’s season schedule is complete.
