STOCKTON, Calif. (Interstat) — San Joaquin Delta defeated Laney 71-62 in a women’s junior college basketball game Saturday, avenging an overtime loss from December.

The Mustangs built a 25-14 lead after the first quarter, but the Eagles surged with a 22-point second quarter to close within 33-36 at halftime. San Joaquin Delta regained control with a 26-point third quarter, led by Fajr Cuthbertson’s 17 points and 10 rebounds. Aaliyah Youngblood added 18 points for the Mustangs.

Ashanti Dias scored 13 points for Laney, and Gianna Ghio added 15. San Joaquin Delta improved to 26-4 overall, while Laney fell to 24-4.
