San Mateo vs San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO (Interstat) — The San Francisco Rams will host the San Mateo Bulldogs on Saturday in a Northern California Regional playoff game, a matchup defined by starkly different seasons and a recent history of one-sided results.

The second-round women’s junior college basketball game tips off Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026, with the No. 2-seeded Rams (22-5) heavily favored against the Bulldogs (14-13). San Francisco has dominated both meetings this season, winning 74-54 at home on Jan. 28 and 58-45 at San Mateo on Feb. 18.

The Rams, riding a four-game winning streak, are led by standout guard Patriceia Walsh. She averaged 12.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 5.0 assists over her last four games, including a 14-point, 9-rebound performance in an 86-32 rout of Foothill on Feb. 20. San Francisco’s defense has been formidable, holding opponents under 60 points in nine of their last ten contests.

San Mateo, which advanced with a 71-62 road win at Lemoore on Feb. 25, faces a steep challenge. The Bulldogs have lost seven of their 13 games this season by double digits. A player to watch for the Bulldogs is Marie Palu, though she was held to a single minute in the team’s most recent meeting with the Rams.

The winner will advance to the regional semifinals. San Francisco seeks to continue a season where they have consistently ranked among the state’s elite, while San Mateo aims to pull a major upset and extend an up-and-down campaign.
