Hartnell vs Redwoods
Preview: Hartnell Panthers vs. College of the Redwoods Corsairs
EUREKA, Calif. (Interstat) — A postseason berth on the line will hinge on momentum versus home court when the Hartnell Panthers visit the College of the Redwoods Corsairs in a Northern California Regional Quarterfinal women’s junior college basketball playoff game Wednesday.
The Panthers (17-10) enter as the visiting team, riding high after a dramatic 52-51 road victory at Mission last Friday to close the regular season. Hartnell has won four of its last five games.
Redwoods (14-12), the host, looks to rebound from a narrow 79-78 road loss to Butte on the same night. The Corsairs have dropped two consecutive games and three of their last four.
The matchup features teams with contrasting recent trajectories. Hartnell’s victory over Mission showcased its resilience and top performers. Guard Mia Henson led the way with 17 points, six rebounds and three assists in 34 minutes. Forward Bailey Cotter recorded a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds, while center Yulissa Alvarez controlled the paint with 12 rebounds and three assists.
Redwoods’ path has been more turbulent, with its last two losses each coming by two points or fewer. The Corsairs’ offense has shown potency, scoring 78 points in the loss to Butte, but late-game execution will be a focal point.
Hartnell will rely on its balanced attack, spearheaded by Henson’s scoring and playmaking. The Panthers’ defense has been stout, holding opponents to 51 points or fewer in three of their recent wins.
Redwoods will counter with the advantage of hosting a win-or-go-home playoff game. The Corsairs’ ability to defend their home floor and find consistent scoring beyond their recent setbacks will be critical.
The winner advances to the regional semifinals. Tip-off is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2026.
