Redwoods vs Butte

BUTTE, Calif. (Interstat) — A pivotal California community college women’s basketball matchup with potential playoff implications is set for Friday when the Butte Roadrunners host the Redwoods Corsairs.

The Roadrunners (16-5), boasting one of the region’s top records, will look to avenge a narrow home loss to the Corsairs earlier this month and protect their position in the conference standings. Butte enters on a five-game winning streak, including a dominant 75-50 road victory at Shasta on Monday. In that contest, sophomore forward Brook Marr delivered a commanding performance with 22 points and 14 rebounds.

Marr, a key player to watch, has been a consistent force for Butte. Her recent double-double against Shasta highlighted her ability to control the paint. She will be central to Butte’s game plan as it seeks to split the season series.

The visiting Redwoods Corsairs (14-10) arrive with momentum after a 75-57 home win over Lassen on Monday. That victory snapped a brief two-game skid. The Corsairs have proven they can beat Butte, having done so 72-68 on the Roadrunners’ home floor on Feb. 5. In the teams’ first meeting this season, however, Butte secured a 74-58 win in Eureka on Jan. 10.

The contrasting styles and split season series set the stage for a competitive rubber match. Redwoods will aim to replicate its defensive intensity from the Feb. 5 upset, while Butte will rely on its high-powered offense and home-court advantage. According to Interstat’s game simulator, this contest is projected to be an extremely tight affair.

Tipoff is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 20, 2026, at Butte College.
