Siskiyous vs Lassen
SUSANVILLE, Calif. (Interstat) — The Siskiyous Eagles and Lassen Cougars will meet for the third time this season in a California community college women’s basketball matchup Friday at the GVC Crossover event.
The Eagles (14-15) enter with momentum, having won three of their last four games, including a 53-44 road victory over Shasta on Thursday. The Cougars (4-14) seek to halt a two-game skid after falling 75-57 at Redwoods on Monday.
Siskiyous has dominated the season series, winning both prior meetings decisively. The Eagles won 78-57 at Lassen on Jan. 7 and 77-46 at home on Jan. 31. According to Interstat’s ELO system, Siskiyous is projected with an 81.10 percent probability to win Friday’s contest.
A player to watch for Siskiyous is Alexes Collier, who contributed in Monday’s 65-49 win over Feather River. For Lassen, guard Leah Ragan will be a key factor. She scored 12 points in a Jan. 28 loss at Butte and helped secure a 58-56 win over Feather River on Feb. 4.
The Eagles have shown a potent offense at times, scoring 100 points in a Feb. 7 win over Redwoods. Consistency has been an issue, however, as evidenced by a 70-48 loss at Butte on Feb. 11. Lassen has struggled to find offensive rhythm, failing to reach 60 points in seven of their last eight games.
The game is scheduled for a 3 p.m. tip-off as part of the GVC Crossover, following the 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. contests at the event. Both teams will look to improve their positioning within the conference with the regular season winding down.
